Fixed Price Software

How it works

From conversation to handover

A short, honest walkthrough of every stage of a fixed-price engagement.

1. Conversation (free, no obligation)

We start with a 30–45 minute call. You describe what you want built; we ask questions and probe assumptions. If it's a good fit for both sides, we agree what happens next.

If it isn't a good fit — wrong size, wrong stack, wrong timeline — we say so on the call and recommend someone better suited. Nobody's time is well spent on a project that's destined to disappoint.

2. Specification (paid, fixed fee)

You pay a small fixed fee for a written specification. We produce:

  • A scoped list of deliverables with acceptance criteria for each.
  • A high-level architecture decision record explaining the stack and the trade-offs we picked.
  • A staged delivery plan with milestones.
  • A fixed quote for the build, with the assumptions and exclusions documented in plain English.

If you don't want to proceed after the spec, you walk away owning the document. If you do, the spec fee is credited against the build.

3. Build (fixed price, staged delivery)

We work in two-week stages. Each stage ends with a working, deployable slice you can review and try yourself. After each stage we run a short review: anything that doesn't match the spec gets fixed under the fixed price; anything new gets logged as a clearly-priced change.

Your source code lives in a GitHub repository you have full access to from day one. Nothing is locked away. You can browse the code, read the commit history, and pull it down whenever you want.

4. Acceptance & handover

When all deliverables meet their acceptance criteria, you sign off the build. We hand over:

  • Full ownership of the GitHub repository.
  • All architecture diagrams, decision records, and operational runbooks.
  • Optional ongoing support arrangement, billed monthly — never an obligation.

The handover meeting is also the moment we genuinely answer "what would I change if I were starting again." Honest hindsight, not a sales pitch.

5. Aftercare

You own everything. If you want us to keep maintaining it, great — we'll quote a transparent monthly retainer with clear deliverables. If you'd rather take it in-house or hand it to someone else, we'll help you onboard whoever takes over. No exit fees, no holding the keys hostage.
